Bassetlaw Museum
Bassetlaw Museum is run by Bassetlaw District Council which covers North Nottinghamshire, and includes the two market towns of Retford and Worksop.
The museum is situated in Retford town centre in Amcott House, an 18th century town house which retains many of its original features. The Percy Laws art gallery was built in 1994.
The refurbished museum was re-opened in 2008 with the inside of Amcott House completely transformed and with a new purpose built building housing Rural Heritage Centre.
The collections include local history, archaeology, decorative and fine art, agriculture, costume and textiles.
Retford Civic Society
The Society is run by unpaid volunteers.
Our committee meets monthly, and arranges representation on local groups of interest. Sub-committees look after particular specialist areas.
Open meetings are held throughout the year.
Social events range from talks to outings.
We very much hope members of all ages will find something of interest in our programme - either social activities or the chance to get involved with issues affecting Retford.

Totally Locally Retford
Mission
Simple Maths...
If every adult in Retford spent just £5 per week in our local shops & businesses instead of online or in chain stores & supermarkets, it would mean an extra £4.6 million a year going into our local economy!
Totally Locally is a big idea put together by a small bunch of people. It's about doing it for ourselves, thinking big and being nice!
